Real Men Choose Virtue

Check out Dr. Tim Gray’s article, “The Virtuous Life Is Worth Living: Real Men Choose Virtue,” and share with the other men in your life!

“Many men want to be good husbands and fathers, but if this wanting is not supplemented by the virtues — the skills for successful moral living — then a successful landing will be unlikely. To guide the ship of our moral life to port we must be men who are seasoned in the virtues, and so possess the habits that will enable us to live the values we profess. Values alone will not suffice…”

Are you living the virtuous life?

CATHOLICS COME HOME.ORG RESPONDS TO GROWING HOSTILITY AGAINST CHRISTIAN EXPRESSION IN U.S.

September 11, 2012– Atlanta (Roswell), GA—While a new report shows rising hostility against Christians in America, CatholicsComeHome.org airs hopeful and faith-filled television messages to combat this increasing prejudice against God and people of faith.

As the Year of Faith is set to begin in the Catholic Church, CatholicsComeHome.org continues to combat the attempts by secular groups to censor and silence the voice of Christians in America.   “CatholicsComeHome.org proclaims the good news of Jesus and His Church, by using mainstream media to remind people of the hope that Christianity offers our wounded world,” said Tom Peterson, Founder and President of Catholics Come Home®.

A new report by the Family Research Council and the Liberty Institute describes a growing display of hostility against Christians in the U.S. over the last decade, with secular groups trying to force Christians to leave their faith out of the public square.

The recent surveys from Family Research Council and Liberty Institute cited specific occurrences of Christian persecution.  Instances included:  A public school forcing a valedictorian in Iowa to edit out his thanks to God for his academic success;  A Boys and Girls Club in Florida telling an 8-year-old girl she could not sing “Kum Ba Yah” because it contained the lyrics “Oh, Lord;” and a Manhattan Hospital forcing a nurse to participate in a late-term abortion procedure against her religious beliefs, threatening her with job termination and loss of license.

CatholicsComeHome.org evangelization commercials represent a proud and significant voice of hope for Catholics and all Christians in the public square. They are messages for the New Evangelization, aimed at a culture in dire need of faith in God. “Catholics Come Home® is  bringing light into the darkness through our evangomercialsTM,” Peterson said. “We will not back away from the public arena.  Now, more than ever, Christians are called to live and share their faith in Jesus Christ.”

Happy Feast of St. Gregory the Great!

St. Gregory the Great truly was a saint of “great” accomplishments. But most importantly, St. Gregory accepted God’s will for him with deep humility and a servant’s heart.

Read more about the life of St. Gregory the Great. One of the things he is known for is strengthening respect for Catholic doctrine among the faithful. How well do you know your Catholic doctrine? Happy Feasts of Saints Monica and Augustine!

At Catholics Come Home, we hear from many parents who continually pray for their children to return to the Catholic Church. There are few people who understand these parents’ hearts and struggles better than St. Monica.

St. Monica prayed unceasingly, fasted, and wept for the conversion of her son, Augustine, back to the Catholic Faith from his wayward lifestyle. Before St. Monica’s death, St. Augustine became a practicing Catholic–and he would later go on to become one of the greatest bishops and theologians the Church has ever seen.

“I do not know what there is left for me to do or why I am still here, all my hopes in this world being now fulfilled. All I wished for was that I might see you a Catholic and a child of Heaven. God granted me even more than this in making you despise earthly felicity and consecrate yourself to His service.” -St. Monica to St. Augustine

If you have children away from the Church (or any family or close friends), pray to St. Monica! In her own words: “Nothing is far from God.”

St. Monica (feast day: August 27) and St. Augustine (feast day: August 28), pray for us!

“Just want to let you know that a few days after I put my recently-purchased Catholics Come Home magnet on my car, someone stopped me in the grocery store parking lot to discuss it. He said he was thinking about coming back to Mass. I knew your magnet was going to impact someone; that’s why I wanted to display it. I just didn’t know I was going to get a personal response. Keep up the good work!!!” –Evelyn S. Park Forest, IL
